Internet Searching Strategies and Tools for Nurses by IMET2000-Pal: Your Key to Lifelong Learning

IMET2000-Pal conducted the first e-learning course in collaboration with Ibn Sina College of Nursing at Nijjad Zinni Computer Center. This training aims at helping nurses recognize internet- based opportunities for learning, search for resources for learning, and engage in learning to address opportunities for self-improvement. It also provides opportunity to try out what was learned, and incorporate it in a working context.


At the end of the training participants will be able to:

  • explain the role the internet can play in their career development
  • use appropriate terminology to locate continuing health education (CHE opportunities
  • explore sample CHE opportunities
  • utilize search engines, directories, and online databases in their online searching
  • use Google searching strategies to find what they need

The target audience of the training was 16 nurses primarily from Ibn Sina College and Medical Relief. 


The training consisted of three sessions:

  • The first introduced trainees to available CE opportunities
  • he second sessions introduced trainees to places to look for information on the internet (directories, portals, sites, databases) 
  • The third session introduced trainees to Google searching strategies

On formal evaluation of the course, more than 80% of the participants indicated that the course had covered useful material and about 90% of them found the material relevant to their practice. “The workshop was excellent: information given will help me a lot in the future” said one of the participants.
